What is the “Lone Star Air Rally”?

Have you ever dreamed of the excitement of air racing? The open course air racing of the Golden Era where pilots raced Gee Bees, Travel Airs and Supermarines while navigating to cross country waypoints. You too can engage in that air racing excitement with your experimental or factory built aircraft.

We are hosting a general aviation air race in the Galveston Bay coastal area with arrivals and departures from the KGLS airport. This is a sanctioned Sport Air Racing League event with 30 - 60 aircraft participating in an 100 -200 mile open course timed event. Aircraft are grouped into classes based on aircraft type, engine size, gear configuration, etc..

Heavy Metal –  warbirds are welcomed to participate.





Experimental (Amateur-Built) – makeup the majority of the participants and are divided into classes.

Factory (Production) - participants are divided into classes.





Come join us for some fun. The course will test your ability to aviate and navigate accurately. You will make new friends and document your aircraft's performance over a given course.
